In April, 2017, AUDIO would undergo an upgrade that positioned it as one of the best mid-sized dance music venues in the world. Of the many international DJs who have played AUDIO many have regarded it as the best sounding venue in San Francisco.
The upgrade consisted of the brand new flagship Funktion One speakers in a 7 point 3D sound configuration, with 4 overhead speakers and 6 fill speakers.
Working alongside the owner David Brinkley and Funktion One Audio Technicians, we concluded there was ample acoustic absorption in the room for the new system. The primary focus for Acoustic Images on this project would be a creative diffusion solution that would span the entire wall at the front of the room.
We first started with the frequency ranges which needed diffusion at the proposed locations. Using a quadratic equation and diffusion calculator we determined the exact depth, size, layout, and orientation of each block/well on our skyline diffusers and provided the initial renderings for approval.
With the precision needed in our A.I. skyline diffusers we do our own custom milling to ensure every block is exactly uniform in size. Check the build process below
